Sunday is the start of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, so we thought it would be timely to talk about healthy eating and body image. As we've heard before, it's better to "eat to live" rather than "live to eat." At PWC, we emphasize the importance of taking care of your body through a healthy diet and exercise, and having a positive attitude about yourself, regardless of your size, hair color, etc.
Because people sometimes confuse a healthy self-image with an idealized body image, eating disorders strike over 30 million Americans. While two thirds of individuals with eating disorders are female, a growing number of males are now affected.
The following infographic illustrates many of the facts about eating disorders and women. To see a larger view, go to the National Eating Disorders website.
