Exploring one’s creativity is an important element in recovery and wellness.  At Perry Center, we like to promote the creative talent of our peer members, many of whom show striking talent.

This past week, Shawn Bland, Director of the Americus-Sumter County Arts Council, visited the center to invite us to become involved in the council’s activities.  Consider us signed up! With our membership, we will now be able to display many of our artistic products at the Council offices on Lamar Street, and we also plan to participate in the upcoming spring Arts in the Park festival.

Jeff Williams, nationally renowned artist and Creative Director at PWC notes:”It is vital that we recognize and promote the creative talent in our peer family.  I am discovering talents, an awareness of art principles, and colors that I never knew existed before we began providing media materials [to our peer members].”

JewelryAt Rudy’s Happy Patch Market and the Americus-Sumter County Arts Council, look for member creations such as purses, wreaths, memory stones, jewelry, and other art and craftwork.

Our latest creative unveiling is the work of Andrea Prusso.  Her glass bead jewelry is selling as fast as we can put it on the shelves!

In the photo, Essie Waters, left, and Market Manager Phyllis Bleckley look on as Andrea displays her unique creations.
